The Château de Cognac was built in the eleventh century on the banks of the Charente river as a defensive fortress against the invasion of Vikings and English. This was where, in the year of 1795, the Baron Otard Cognac founded his house, and who saw the perfect qualities that the castle owned for aging cognac. From entonce Otard produces one of the best cognacs in the region, as this VSOP noted for its intense deep golden color, taste full-bodied, finesse and pleasant finish.
